Hilik’s sculptures are on permanent display in Queen Street Glebe on the balconies of his neighbours. There are also sculptures in the front yards of some houses on Glebe Point Road.
About Hilik Mirankar
Professional Background
Hilik is a well-known Sydney sculptor who works in wood and mixed media. He also makes installations. He initially did some training as a sculptor in London. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Sydney and NSW, and mounted installations in the Sydney Biennale, New England Regional Gallery and the ABC Building. There is a permanent exhibition of his work in the front porches of the houses in Queen Street Glebe where he lives [1][4]. He has also partnered and collaborated with other artists on community projects.

In addition, Hilik has been a well-known Sydney character for the last 40 years, working as a knife sharpener, sharpening implements from the back of a motorbike. His business is called Slick Flick Sharpeners.
The Shop Gallery
Hilik runs The Shop Gallery in Glebe with his wife, artist and writer Anna Couani. The gallery, open since 2014, is a rental space and is an independent, non-elitist venue for artists to run their own shows providing a platform for emerging and established artists alike [3].
